In May 1975 SBB went to Sweden. Legendary tour ended up in offering the world the famous for years to come, breath-taking concert in Karlstad – over forty minutes of improvised progressive rock of the world standard. Now, after years, it turns out that Karlstad was not the only eye-opener of the tour…

The most significant Polish rock band of 70s, during the Swedish tour in 1975, was in their top form. They could play literally anything and… they did. The tape, just discovered, with the recording of the performance in a small, industrial town of Hofors, is a confirmation that SBB could easily create a forty-minute rock suite full of mood changes and sensational solo parts of the Hammond organ of Józef Skrzek and the guitar of Apostolis Anthimos. The idea of the early aggressive-progressive SBB is here mastered to perfection: the band sounds like one, coherent organism driven by the nervous rhythms of Jerzy Piotrowski, whose perfection of play might bewilder more than one metronome.

A complete recording of the concert in Hofors was found after years in Sweden and remastered from the original tape by original FOH engineer from this tour, Anders Oredson.

Owiana legendą podróż dała światu znany od lat, zapierający dech w piersiach koncert w Karlstad – ponad czterdzieści minut improwizowanego rocka progresywnego na światowym poziomie. Teraz, po latach, okazuje się, że Karlstad nie był jedynym zaskoczeniem tego tournée…

Najważniejszy polski zespół rockowy lat 70. podczas szwedzkiej trasy w 1975 roku był w szczytowej formie. Mogli grać dosłownie wszystko i… grali. Odnaleziona właśnie taśma z zapisem występu w niewielkim, przemysłowym miasteczku Hofors to potwierdzenie, że SBB bez trudu mogło na gorąco stworzyć czterdziestominutową rockową suitę pełną licznych zmian nastroju oraz brawurowych partii solowych organów Hammonda Józefa Skrzeka i gitary Apostolisa Anthimosa. Idea wczesnego, agresywno-progresywnego SBB jest tutaj doprowadzona do perfekcji: zespół brzmi jak jeden, spójny organizm napędzany przez nerwowe rytmy Jerzego Piotrowskiego, który perfekcją gry mógłby zadziwić niejeden metronom.

Kompletne nagranie koncertu z Hofors zostało odnalezione po latach w Szwecji i zremasterowane z oryginalnej taśmy przez realizatora tych nagrań, Andersa Ordesona.

The new live EP by Ryan W. Stevenson's project reminded me, that this debut album must have been gone down the wishlist... If instrumental Canterbury stuff is your thing, this should be a no-brainer. Thanks to the nice-endof-year-offer I came to fill this gap in my private worm collection (a, pardon me, worm hole, so to speak :-)) Wonderful reminiscence to many good things past (Canterbury, 70s prog, folk rock) with a good sense of humour and great ideas (both in the songwriting & in the arrangements) .
